Agricultural Practices and Farm Mechanization in Betul (MP): An Economic Perspective

Agriculture is a principal source of farmers’ income and the level of agricultural development and infrastructure facilities affects the socio-economic development of that area. An effort was made by the authors to measure the progress of farmers and their general socio-economic development in the Betul district of Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, the survey insight into the economic feasibility of crop cultivation, fodder technology, and farm mechanization status.
To understand the socio-economic status of Betul (MP), a number of farmers were interviewed according to their land holding (small, medium, and large), age, education, occupation, family, size of his/her household, number of crops per annum, fodder production for livestock, farm machinery availability and its expenses, other costs or consumption, and yearly revenue. The outcome of our endeavor provides various data in one place which help in frequent use in agricultural research.
The authors wrote this book to keep the concept in mind of development as a process that improves people's quality of life and regional differences in economic growth have been reduced throughout time by using economic planning as a means of achieving uniformity.
